VINKAS FARM HOUSE

SIRSI, RAJASTHAN

Construction Area: 500sqm

The house occupies a site rich with historical associations around. Designed for a family of four, this leisure home is conceived as a contemporary retreat with vernacular influences.

The house is comprised of three major blocks; living+dining, bedrooms & pool, all tied in a harmonious arrangement with a squarish lawn in- between. A series of parallel structural walls organises the exterior & interior spaces in a manner of disguise. At any given corner, one shall be unable to decipher her/his future steps. The route through the house progresses from a darkened to fully lit spaces, revealing & framing nature. Circulation is designed so as to capture sequence of carefully landscape courtyards. At the epitome, 10m long stepped pool; inspired by vernacular ‘kund’, is placed with a sculptural service block floating in the middle.

Furthermore, a comprehensive integrated dynamic facade mechanics, solar passive techniques, rain water harvesting system, use of on-site cow dung for bio-gas generation, further emphasize the degree of architectural detailing.
