SIDDH COTTAGE,

JAIPUR, RAJASTHAN

Construction Area: 500sqm

This miniature house is a tight site construction project in a densely populated region of Jaipur city. Hence, an introduction of skylights & a concern for an individual privacy, were strong elements of design. Since, the site was surrounded by houses on three sides, the concept of vertical dimension came within.

The project consists of four floors and a staggered matrix of open-to-sky courts in order to enhance an interactive fervour. A giant tree with water body in one of such courts, helps in maintaining ambient temperature through an evaporative cooling. This works effectively in such hot & dry climate of Rajasthan. Further, one is always aware of bright natural light from any given corner of the house.

The west front facade is cladded with bricks. Thence, augmenting the thermal performance of the house in its totality.
